Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!

At first hearing the idea of buying bulk flowers for a wedding or other occasion that might call for floral arrangements, I thought it might be one of those ideas to save money that ends up with me wishing I had spent a few more dollars and gotten more satisfaction in the end. But upon a bit of investigation of FiftyFlowers.com, it seems that they have a way to provide both the savings I want on the highest quality and freshest flowers possible. They also allow a choice of the focal flower, as well as the accent flowers and greens to make the arrangements be exactly what I want and not something I have to settle for.

Mom Was Cheated on Mother’s Day

Mom’s birthday was May 10th. So when we were young, Mom always got “cheated” at Mother’s Day, because we gave her one gift for both her birthday & Mother’s day. I remember a couple of times my little sister and I tried to get creative. Once we bought her a pair of earrings and gave her one for Mother’s Day and the other for her birthday. Another year we got her salt & pepper shakers, and gave one on her birthday and the other on Mother’s Day.

When we were a little older we got Mom a bouquet of flowers. We told her the vase was for Mother’s Day and the flowers for her birthday. Mom really liked getting Mothers Day roses. She liked getting bouquets, but she really liked a corsage she could wear to church on Mother’s Day. She loved to have people comment how pretty the flowers were, and how considerate her kids were.

Mom loved flowers, and my dad has a green thumb. He always had things blooming in our yard. Mom loved gladiolas and zinnias, so we had those in the planter box under the picture window in the living room. Dad loves day lilies, so he had them scattered in beds all over the yard. I saw some lilies in bloom yesterday as my wife and I were walking through the neighborhood, and thought of Mom.
