Masters

The Masters golf tournament will begin tomorrow. It is one of the great sporting events that I have not yet seen but woull love to get to observe. The history and the elegance of the Augusta course make it a national treasure. It is no wonder that professional golfers long to wear the green jacket that is awarded to the winner of the Masters.

Golf Handicap

was browsing around some sites on the web when I came across Net Handicap.com. It is a site that has a simple process for securing an official USGA golf handicap, which allows a formerly inaccessible index is now open to help an estimated 200 million golfers calculate their handicaps. The process is very affordable and easy to do.

Using the USGA golf handicap software the golfer only has to sign up at a member club, if not already a member, play 5 rounds and post the scores to Net Handicap, then play at least three rounds with members of their local club, and one club event within a year. If you need to find a club that participates, there are over 50 clubs listed at the web site. Fortunately for me, there are clubs in Houston!

Golf Fitness Vacations

I just read about  Golf Fitness Vacations . Let me share a quote with you:

“- All the Golf Fitness Vacation schools utilize patented technology to analyze the body mechanics of each individual golf swing. “The 3R Training Approach puts advanced technology in the hands of our expert Golf Academy instructors,” said David Ostrow, physical therapist and owner of Body Balance for Performance. “This Golf Vacation is designed to help you become more consistent, gain distance, and play pain free — all while on vacation.”

As I get nearer retirement age, I am also getting a lot less physically fit. But I want to be able to really enjoy my old age and not surrender to the easy chair. I have always known that fitness is the fountain of youth, and yet I have not made sure to stay fit. I expect to play much more golf in my retirement days, so I should take advantage of the training I can get on a golf fitness vacation. What could better for the immediate benefits as well as the long term joy?
