Most Are Picking The Red Sox

Almost everybody seems to be picking the Red Sox as the team likely to win the World Series.  And I suppose the depth of offensive power, plus two top quality pitchers at the front of their rotation, as well as home-field advantage makes the Sox an easy pick.

But the Rockies have a far superior defense to the Red Sox, which might make the difference in a run or two per game.  If the Rockies can play with poise, they have a chance.  So here I go out on a limb, Rockies in six!

Rockies In the Series

The Colorado Rockies have had an incredible run over the past month or so.  They have won 21 of their last 22 games.  They are now about to begin their first-ever World Series against the very potent Boston Red Sox.the Rockies have had a nine-day layoff between games, because they swept their league championship series against Arizona, while the Red Sox had to go seven games against the Indians.  I don’t know if the layoff will cool them off, but the Rockies practice and had to be canceled yesterday because of snow!

Sox Advance

I did my best to pull the Cleveland Indians through against the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series. But the Stinkin’ Red Sox won the last three games to win in the decisive seventh game. They now advance to the World Series against the Rockies!

Huge Eighth Inning In ALCS/1-2-3

The Red Sox of Boston had their big hitters coming up in the top of the eighth inning os the third game of the ALCS, Youkilis, Ortiz, and Ramirez. It is a formidable task to get through those guys. But he Indians were up to the task, specifically Paul Bettencort, who , after a battle, struck out Youkilis, got Big Papi to line out to right on the first pitch and then on a 1 and 2 pitch, popped ManRam up to the second baseman. I wonder if they will look back on that half inning as the key to their trip to the World Series.

Huge Eighth Inning In ALCS

The third game of the American League Championship Series is going to the top of the eighth inning with the Indians leading the Red Sox by a score of 4-2. But the Red Sox are due to send up Youkilis, Ortiz and Ramirez in the inning. If the Indialns can get through that part of the order with the lead, they may find it was the most important half inning of the series.

Manny Being Manny

C. C. Sabathia is a great pitcher. He won 19 games this year. But his nemesis i Manny Ramirez. In his career, Manny is hitting over .500 against Sabathia. Tonight in the first inning of the ALCS game one, Manny got a hit to drive in a run and tie the game. In the third, the left fielder took a bases loaded walk to drive in the go ahead run, and the gates opened for Boston.

Beckett vs Sabathia

The first game of the ALCS is to be played later today and it is set up to be a classic playoff match up. Cleveland will be sending out C. C. Sabathia, thier lefty that has had a tremendous season. He will be opposed by Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox. This right hander was the only 20 game winner in MLB this season and is likely to beat out Sabathia for the Cy Young Award.

Should be a duel!

Rocking Rockies

How can you believe the Colorado Rockies? I was just sure that they would cool off with the four days between the end of the first round and the beginning of the LCS. But tonight they won the first game by a 5-1 score over the Ariona Diamondbacks. That make their run be 18 of their last 19 games have been victories!

Not Four Sweeps

When the play off series all went to two game to none for one team, I wondered if there could be four sweeps. There very nearly were. Boston elimanted Anaheim in three games, while Arizona dismissed Chicago and Colorado put away Philadelphia. But the Yankees did not go out in three. They forced the Cleveland Indians into a fourth game at least.

Four Sweeps?

I wonder if any of the teams trailing in the Major League play offs will win a game. The Cubs are going home to play the D-backs trailing 2-0. So are the Angels, though trailing the Red Sox. And the Yankees are headed to the Bronx down 2-0 to the Indians. The team in the worst position may be the Phillies, who are going to Colorado trailing the Rockies by two games.
