No Texas, No A&M!

I had University of Texas beating Texas A&M in the Final Four, but losing to Florida in the finals. Texas went out meekly to Southern Cal in the second round, and A&M stumbled out in the round of 16 to Memphis. Acie Law will remember a missed lay up in the final few seconds for a long time.

Florida is still alive, but my bracket is not looking too good right now!

Texas A&M vs Memphis Tonight

The Aggies are to play Memphis in the NCAA basketball tournament tonight. The game is in San Antonio, only a couple of hundred miles from College Station, the home of A& M. That should mean that the crowd will be in the Aggies’ favor. But in the end it will come down to matters of execution, and Memphis has not lost in their past twenty four games, so they can execute. It should be a good contest!

One Sided Joy in March Madness

The joy of March Madness is one sided. Only the team that wins is happy with the outcome of the tournament games. I know Ohio State loved the game with Xavier. But I don’t think Xavier went away happy with the results. They let a 9 point lead slip away in the final minutes of the game and then lost by seven in over time. The Louisville Cardinals played a great game against Texas A&M. But they lost a hard fought game. And I imagine Edgar Sosa will have a bad taste in his mouth for a few days since he missed shots and free throws in the last half minute.

A&M vs Louisville

I got to see most of the game between the Aggies and the Cardinals. It was a great game and part of what makes the NCAA basketball tournament so much fun. Two good teams played all out and the struggle was intense. Edgar Sosa had a marvelous game for the Cardinal, he scored 31 points and really sparked his team with his passion.

But in the end, his being a freshman in his first NCAA tourney bit him. He missed two free throws and took an ill-advised shot near the end. The senior leadership and experience of Acie Law, a senior for A&M, made the difference. He made his shot and made his free throws and the Aggies came away with a hard fought 72-69 win!

Touch In the Clutch!

The Aggies of Texas A&M are to play the Penn Quakers this afternoon in the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, as March Madness get underway in earnest! I have filled out a bracket that has A&M going to the Final Four. The biggest reason is that the Aggies are experienced and their leader is a a senior with ice water in his veins! He is a heady leader and when the game is on the line, he wants the ball! His name is Acie Law. I hope this is his time to shine!
