Capella University

It is not uncommon for me to feel that I do not know enough to do some of the things I need to know to be as effective on my job. I have often thought of going back to school, especially to improve my awareness of the technical advances that have been made as I have gotten older and further from my school days.

But I always shied away from leaving my job for a couple of years or more to get the degree I coveted. That is where capella university can meet my need; to learn without having t6 stop working. Capella is a completely online and accredited university. It offers more than a hundred different degree and certifications, including graduate degrees.

Distance Learning

Capella University, founded in 1993, is a serious provider of distance learning. It has nearly 18,000 students and offers 82 graduate and undergraduate specializations, as well as 16 certificate programs! Capella U is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and thus belongs to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Capella is aggressively seeking more students through its advertising campaign on the web, seeking to elevate its profile through web releases, such as the recent one presenting information about one of its adjunct professors, Sara Odem, who has recently co-authored a book aimed at improving management skills in executives. Odem teaches in Capella’s Business school.

Capella University

Capella University has really gotten energetic and aggressive in their advertising. I just received another Web release from them, describing the school’s latest “Inside Online Education” podcast. This posdcast contains an interview with Dr. Carl Thomas, a physician who is also pursuing a Ph.D. in health care administration at Cappella University. In the podcast Dr. Thomas describes how she wants to become the Surgeon General of the United States.

Using the podcasts, Capella is letting prospective students know the kind of people that are enrolled in the online university. The old adage is, “birds of a feather flock together.” Capella wants to attract more like Dr. Thomas! Are you one?

More on Capella University

A recent Web release describes a new feather in the cap for Capella University. The subject of the release is the new inside online education podcasts. It tells of a conversation with Capella Ph.D. student, Carla Chladek, who works as a program manager for the Joint Staff Training Program at the Pentagon. Chladek is responsible for making sure that the training needs for 2000 military members, who support the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are met.

This caliber student is more validation for Capella University, which has been around since 1993. It is completely an online university that is accredited by the NCA. It has over 19,000 students and is growing in reputation!

Capella U!

Capella University has been around since 1993. It is a completely online university that is accredited by the NCA. It has become a great educational tool for thousands of students and offers a wide diversity of degree and certification plans that can be obtained by students with computers and the will to learn. This online institution of higher learning has attracted many such students. But how do these students fare once they’ve finished their degree plan or received their certificate?

At least one of the students is very successful. Tammy Alexander, who is a master’s degree student at Capella, has recently been named the winner of the 2006 FBI Directors Community Leadership Award. Her service in crime prevention earned her that award. She is an example of the kind of students at Capella University attracts.
